Here’s a fantastic example of a DAF Standard that is in excellent condition. It measures approximately 51″x45″ in size. The silver bullion fringe is in exceptional condition and the corner patch is nicely chain stitched – Neustadt-Ost IV. The colors are brilliant throughout. There is a minor stain (see picture) and a very small hole. All hardware is RZM stamped (M3/40/41) and the top ring is missing. This is a beautiful piece that will display nicely in any collection.
The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) was the National Socialist trade union organization which replaced the various independent trade unions of the Weimar Republic after Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. After the Nazi-organized 1933 May Day labor celebrations, the Third Reich not only nationalized all trade unions, but decreed union membership as a mandatory duty, forcing every worker to join the state-operated union.
