Here’s a fantastic example of a DAF Standard that is in very nice condition and measures approximately 54″x45″ in size. The silver bullion fringe is in very nice condition. The chain stitched corner patch reads “Völklingen 31”. The colors are nice and clean throughout. There is one small hole and very slight oil staining (see pictures). All original hardware is retained. Overall this is a very nice piece that will display beautifully in any collection.
The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) was the National Socialist trade union organization which replaced the various independent trade unions of the Weimar Republic after Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. After the Nazi-organized 1933 May Day labor celebrations, the Third Reich not only nationalized all trade unions, but decreed union membership as a mandatory duty, forcing every worker to join the state-operated union.
