Here’s a fantastic example of a DAF Standard that is in great condition. It measures approximately 51″x45″ in size. The gold bullion fringe is in very nice condition. The colors are nice and clean throughout. There are light stains throughout with what appears to be some black paint (see pictures). All hardware is retained with one replacement top snap clip. Overall this is a very nice piece that will display beautifully in any collection.
The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) was the National Socialist trade union organization which replaced the various independent trade unions of the Weimar Republic after Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. After the Nazi-organized 1933 May Day labor celebrations, the Third Reich not only nationalized all trade unions, but decreed union membership as a mandatory duty, forcing every worker to join the state-operated union.
