Description
Here is an exceptional/rare example of Adolf Hitler’s formal Cake server. This extremely rare piece comes from an amazing silver hoard that was sold by Bill Shea of Ruptured Duck Militaria. This is 1 of 8 cake servers that were located at the Eagles Nest (see below Eagles Nest order form). A superb original piece of silverware taken from Hitler’s Eagles Nest by a C Company soldier, Adler James Muller, of the 101st Airborne Division in May 1945. The portfolio prepared by Bill Shea is also included in the sale. You’ll find copies of a hand written letter from Muller describing the events of the time in addition to copies of the actual pictures of Muller’s service time, training and his buddies at the Berghof and Eagles Nest.
The server is from Hitler’s personal formal silverware service. It has the traditional Greek Key pattern meandering around the edges of the front handle. The lower portion of the handle is adorned with a Political eagle with half-open wings. The eagle clutches an oak wreath with swastika. The initials “A” and “H” on the left and right side of the wreath. The reverse of the server is hallmarked with the Bruckmann markings, being a Crescent, an Imperial Crown, “800”, and a Prussian eagle.
Rarely can one find these silver pieces with such provenance. A superb quality item and a fantastic piece of history!
