Description
This artifact is a well-preserved Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) flagpole finial, exhibiting an attractive, undisturbed patina consistent with age and careful preservation. Measuring approximately 12¼ inches in height and 9½ inches in width, the piece retains crisp detail and original surface character. It was manufactured by Kraas, Berlin, and bears the appropriate maker’s stamps.
The Reichsarbeitsdienst served as the national labor organization in Germany during this period, structured to coordinate labor service and workforce mobilization. Divided into separate sections for men and women, it formed part of a broader system of state-directed labor initiatives.
As a ceremonial object, this finial functioned as a symbol of organizational identity and presence. Today, it offers insight into the visual and institutional culture associated with national labor programs, while its preserved condition enhances its value as a historical artifact.
